Some machines simply stop being made. When a run ends, the remaining units scatter across dealers and quietly disappear, and after that the only option is the second-hand market and whatever condition comes with it.

This is where we put the exceptions: brand new, unused instruments that no longer exist anywhere else. Not B-stock, not returns, not open box. New units of machines that have reached the end of their production run, and when these are gone, that is genuinely the end.
